As a Voice Engineer Tier 1 you will be responsible for planning hosted installations by providing project support as well as operations support. The Voice Engineer Tier 1 establishes communications systems by installing and maintaining systems and equipment. Additionally you will assist with design and installation of internal and external networks test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans hosted installations by studying design plans layouts and technical specifications. Orders and gathers equipment supplies materials and tools for installation and assesses installation sites. Establishes hosted system by installing switches telephone sets and related equipment. Oversees the cable runs and pulls programming s equipment and following industry standards while coordinating with contractors. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Installs troubleshoots repairs and maintains telecommunications equipment and wiring. Receives work from and responds to service center tickets walk ins or internal help requests Troubleshoots and resolves or escalates problems to the next level in a timely manner while following consistent standard approaches. Establishes power and communications by connecting equipment to power connecting communications cables calibrating equipment. Maintains and improves service by completing preventive maintenance requirements verifying problems with users diagnosing troubleshooting and repairing problems using voltmeters ohmmeters ampmeters and hand tools replacing and upgrading components installing program updates testing back ups referring to schematics manuals and manufacturers instructions updating equipment records. Maintains safe work environment by following codes standards and legal regulations. Maintains analog lines and installs communication circuits. Knowledge of telco backboards is essential. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities reading technical publications. Actively participates in training and personal career development. Other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of commonly used telecommunications concepts practices and procedures highly preferred. Strong knowledge of telephone features and services. Ability to follow instructions and pre established guidelines. Attention to detail essential. Ability to work independently. Strong verbal communication skills. Documentation skills. Three years experience in the telecom field or in a related field. Previous Key System or PBX installation experience is beneficial Strong understanding of Voice over IP fundamentals is desired Oregon State Low Voltage License preferred.
